University Transition

Many of our students do choose higher education and we support them through the application process and transition to University.

We know that the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) can be a little intimidating, so our Sixth Form team are there to assist students in completing their applications. We spend time with each student to investigate the courses and institutions that will best support them with their future plans. The Sixth Form staff also take students to open days.

We are proud that each year our students have great successes in getting on their dream courses, and securing places at the most prestigious universities, such as Oxford and Cambridge. Our students go on to study a wide range of courses from medicine and dentistry to computing, engineering, law, physiotherapy and commerce to name a few. We are proud of all their achievements.

University Information for Students and Parents:

A high proportion of Bideford College Sixth Form students gain university places, and the school has a long record of success at entry to Oxford, Cambridge and the Russell Group universities.

If you are looking to move onto Higher Education when you have finished at College you will need to start researching and thinking about your UCAS application by the end of Year 12.

The UCAS website is the prime site for researching higher education courses at universities and colleges. There are other information sections on student finance, higher and degree apprenticeships and taking a year out.
